Laurel, Ms. IHOP

I've heard so many people talk negative about the new IHOP in Laurel located on 16th Avenue. I've heard things from people such as; the service is slow, the food is delivered cold, etc.

I have to disagree. I do not know if these people are perhaps going during the "busiest" times, and when I do go, perhaps they aren't so busy?

But I can honestly say from my experiences at the new Laurel IHop, the waitresses were friendly and fast to deliver our food, our food was still hot/warm, and it tasted great.

My only complaint - they are more expensive than Huddle House. At least they should try to match Huddle House prices. (And they may get more customers that way. As it is, I'd prefer Huddle House.)

So I give them 4 stars.

Laurel, Ms. Taco's (in the Mall)

My family & I love to eat at this location.

Their prices are only slightly higher than Taco Bell but it's well worth it because the food tastes so much better. (Also their taco's and burrito's are larger than Taco Bell's, so it doesn't take as much to fill you up!)

We've been eating at this location regularly for many years & it is rare they ever make a mistake, get an order wrong or anything.

The only thing I don't like is that they close so early!

But if you're ever in the mood for Mexican food, I give "Taco's" in the mall - 5 stars!

Laurel, Ms. Hardee's on 16th Ave

There is no doubt that Hardee's has some of the best fast food in town.

Over the past few years their menu has grown (unlike some other fast food restaurants) and their food is always delivered to you hot, fresh cooked and delicious.

That is the great things about Hardee's.

Now, about the Hardee's on 16th Avenue, I've been there many times over 15+ years.
I've yet to see good management at this location. I've also yet to see anyone train new employees to SMILE when greeting customers (or any time!)

The only reason I continue to go - is because the food is so great. (I'd give this location 3 out of 5 stars)

Laurel, Ms. Estelle's Restaurant

Estelle's (formerly known Ruby Lee's) located in Pendorff on Hwy 11, is the best place to eat!

Not only do they have a buffet filled with scrumptious food, but their prices are reasonable.

Instead of dining in and paying $13 for the All-You-Can-Eat Buffet, you can order a To Go box. The To Go box consists of 1 meat, 2 side items, roll or corn bread, a drink AND a small bowl of dessert - ALL FOR ONLY $8

I absolutely love this place and eat there as often as I can!
(5 Stars!)

If you're local to Laurel and have never tried this place, you really should try it!

Laurel, Ms. Chick-Fil-A

This location in the mall hires new employees monthly (so it seems) to replace all the employees who quit. Basically, every time you go, there's new people being trained, and only few of them ever actually SMILE.

Their combo prices are too high for this area. This is Laurel, Ms., not a BIG City where you would expect those kinds of prices.

The food is cooked fresh, delivered to you warm, but does NOT taste that great. I would prefer any other chicken place.

I've tried thinking of "something" positive to say about this location, as I try to point out all good qualities of locations. However, as of to date, I have nothing positive to say about this location. (Sorry)

Laurel, Ms. Catfish One (aka Bosun Joe's)

This restaurant was a favorite place for my family and I to eat, for many years.

Since their catfish and other foods are fried in fresh peanut oil, it was one of the few places that I could eat ( and not get sick!)

However, that has recently changed. The food now is so greasy it makes me sick. I am unsure if they're using old oil, have changed oil? And possibly hiring new/different cooks that just aren't cooking the food properly.

Aside from that, over the last several years their prices have continued to go up. At first it wasn't too bad, because they were still giving you the same amount of food. But now - they are giving less food even though their prices are still "up there". (Reminds me of Direct TV, steadily increasing the cost but steadily taking channels away.)

So no more Catfish One / Bosun Joe's for me! Unless they change.

Laurel, Ms. Burger King (Beacon Street)

Since my family and I have eaten at this particular Burger King many times over the last several years, I can tell you several things (both good and bad) about this location.

The Good -

1) Your food is normally warm, fresh, and tastes great. (I cannot eat McDonald's food, it makes me extremely sick - like food poisoning sick!)

2) There is usually only a short wait time to receive your food.

The Bad -

1) Only about 75% of the time will your order actually be "accurate" (either they did not fix the burger as you asked - example "no mustard or pickles" - yet they will include those items on there anyway. Another example, you may have ordered fries & did not receive them. Always check your order before you leave if you are getting it "to go".)

2) The employees there are loud and discuss problems at home, problems with friends, etc. If you are dining in, you will know a lot of their personal problems before you leave the restaurant. (Very unprofessional - even if it is a Fast Food Restaurant.)
